In Presevo, southern Serbia, arrive small groups of men escaped the torture in Macedonia where groups of criminals kidnap them until they do not get money from families in countries of origin, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria.
In the center of Belgrade very close to the railway station there is "Afghan Park", the place where thousands of refugees are waiting to reach a destination by paying traffickers. Here are especially large families who come battered and feet hurt because of the forced marches in the woods. The presence of MSF mobile clinics are determinant to treat the refugees, suffering from scabies and respiratory diseases.
In Subotica, the border between Serbia and Hungary there is a kind of circle of the damned. They live close to the wall and the barbed wire placed by the Hungarian government to prevent the refugees to continue their journey. Migrants spend weeks waiting for something to happen. They live outdoors under sun and rain. The night is cold and the kids get sick.
Only 10/15 women with small children are allowed to cross the wall and to reach the filtration camps in Hungary. Families are divided and the men remain in the no-men’s-land. After identification women and children disappear and are sent to detention camps under the Hungarian Ministry of the Interior.
In these tragic conditions only mobile clinic of Medecins sans Frontieres - Belgrade distributes food, water, blankets and give medical support to refugees. Thanks to MSF for kind cooperation on the ground.
